2nd Grade Behavior Plan
Every student in our classroom is an individual with different needs. We manage the classroom so our students get what they need for a successful education. There may be instances in our classroom when what a student wants, is not what he/she needs. We discuss the “Need vs. Want” concept on the first day of school and revisit the idea throughout the school year. All expectations fall under our grade level wide rule of "Be Kind." Please review and discuss the classroom expectations with your child.

Class Schedule
Snacks and Drinks
We will be having a recess daily where students will be permitted to have a HEALTHY snack. If you would like your students to have a snack, please send one with them to school. Snacks will not be provided by the teacher or school. In addition, due to allergies, food being eaten in the classroom will be limited. Students may, and are encouraged to, bring water bottles into the classroom, but there is a water fountain down the hall to drink from as well.
Birthday Celebrations
At PAN we celebrate birthdays on the last Friday of the month. If you would like your child to share a treat with the class, we ask that you please communicate with your child's teacher. Students will also be invited to bring a show and tell item on the day of the birthday celebration.
Second grade will also be doing a "Birthday Book Club" program where you parents have the option of donating a book to our classroom library. All Birthday Book Club books will have a label inside of them acknowledging your child and their birthday. More information will be sent home closer to your child's birthday.

Volunteering
Volunteers are always welcome! If you would like to come in and volunteer, please communicate with your child's home room teacher within 24 hours. The teacher will have to put your name on the volunteer schedule so it is very important to give her time to do so. Siblings are not allowed to accompany parents while they are volunteering due to safety issues. There is so much to do and we would love and appreciate your help!
Attendance
Your child’s regular and prompt attendance at school is crucial to his/her success. Students with poor attendance will miss valuable instructional time and have difficult time reaching their potential. If your child is ill, he/she will be given three school days to make up any work. Please view school as a priority, and see to it that your child attends every day except in cases of illness or emergency. When your child is absent be sure to email or send in and explanation note that includes the child's first and last name; the dates the student was absent; and the reason the child was unable to attend. Also, it is important to limit the number of days your child is pulled out for early dismissal. Please do this only in the event of a doctor’s appointment or other reasonable situations. For more information, please see the school's parent/student handbook.
